As part of the Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center’s Fifth Annual Juneteenth Celebration, we are proud to present internationally acclaimed Chicago blues artist Toronzo Cannon for a special evening of powerful music, storytelling, and celebration. Widely recognized as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary blues, Cannon has earned national acclaim for his electrifying guitar work, soulful vocals, and songs that draw upon personal experience, cultural history, and the enduring spirit of resilience. His performances are deeply rooted in the blues tradition while speaking directly to the challenges, triumphs, and humanity of modern life. Juneteenth commemorates the moment when the last enslaved African Americans were finally informed of their freedom in 1865. Today, it stands as a celebration of freedom, perseverance, cultural achievement, and the continuing pursuit of opportunity and justice for all. Through music, art, film, and community dialogue, LBCAC’s annual Juneteenth celebration honors that legacy while recognizing the extraordinary contributions of African American artists and voices.   Presented as part of LBCAC’s acclaimed Blues Legends Series, this special concert will take place in one of Southern California’s most intimate listening rooms, featuring exceptional sound provided by the state-of-the-art QSC system generously donated by QSC founder Pat Quilter. Guests attending the concert are also invited to experience LBCAC’s Juneteenth-themed art exhibition featuring Allison Allen and Thomas Finn, whose work explores themes of freedom, identity, cultural heritage, resilience, and the human spirit.   This concert is part of a larger weekend-long celebration that also includes a special screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary Summer of Soul and opportunities for reflection, conversation, and community connection. Together, these events celebrate the enduring power of music, art, culture, and shared humanity while advancing LBCAC’s mission to activate the power of the arts for the benefit of the community. Friday, June 19 8:00 PM   Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center Where music, culture, and community come together.
