Mike Maimone is a songwriter, pianist, and producer whose work spans indie rock, piano-driven pop, and deeply personal storytelling. Known for his expressive piano playing and emotionally direct songwriting, Maimone’s music balances melodic craft with lyrical honesty, often moving fluidly between intimate reflection and full-band energy. Originally from Ohio and classically trained in piano, Maimone has built a prolific independent career marked by persistence, range, and constant evolution. Since 2005, he has averaged more than 100 live performances a year, appearing as a solo artist, with his longtime trio Mutts, and as a session keyboardist. His touring history includes appearances at major festivals and performances at iconic venues across the country, alongside work supporting a wide range of established artists. In addition to his extensive live work, Maimone is a prolific writer and producer, with dozens of independent releases to his name and a catalog of original songs that have appeared in film, television, and other media. His musical output reflects a wide emotional and stylistic range, shaped by both classical training and years of road-tested experience. In recent years, Maimone’s work has taken on a more reflective and personal dimension. Following the loss of his husband in 2023, he released a critically praised tribute album and began work on Guess What? I Love You, a forthcoming album and companion memoir that explore love, loss, and resilience through both music and storytelling. The project marks a natural extension of his artistic voice, rooted in honesty, craft, and the belief that music can serve as a place of connection and meaning. Whether performing solo at the piano or with a full band, Maimone brings a focused, human presence to the stage, inviting listeners into songs shaped as much by lived experience as by musical discipline.
