Ticket Price includes the Book and a Donation to LBCAC WHERE YOU ARE A Collection of Short Stories By Randy Kraft Former journalist and columnist at the Independent and Laguna Life & People, among others, and author of three novels and a collection of short stories, Randy Kraft will premiere a second story collection entitled “Where You Are” with a reading and talk at Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center Thursday, October 16, at 4 pm. Posing the question, is where you are the last stop or the next step? ten fictional stories explore the paths, and the inevitable detours, that pave the way from where we have been to where we might yet be in the years ahead. The cover photograph is by multiple award-winning photographer, Jacques Garnier, as part of his new Estero series. Taken at Drake’s Estuary, in the Point Reyes National Seashore, the photo evokes both the stillness and the forward motion of aging. Kraft says characters in these stories are straight and gay, black, brown and white, solo or coupled. “These are not tales about wrinkles, or death, although there is that, rather losses and longing, unexpected desire and unfinished business, and the compromises we make in how we choose to live, with whom, and where. $20 tickets include a copy of “Where You Are” available online or on site at Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center, 235 Forest Avenue.
