More About The Salty Suites The Salty Suites are a band whose music defies easy labels and whose story reflects the restless, creative spirit at the heart of American roots music. Known for blazing instrumentals, beautiful vocals, and soaring harmonies, The Salty Suites draw from bluegrass, early country, swing, classical, and global folk traditions. Their sound is deeply rooted yet unmistakably current, honoring tradition while fearlessly breaking its rules when the music calls for it. The result is a captivating blend of virtuosity, humor, and heart. The band’s story began in June 2009 on a memorable night at Castoro Cellars in San Luis Obispo, when Chelsea Williams, Chuck Hailes, and Scott Gates played together for the first time, on a bill headlined by John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. A single shared performance of Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” set the course for what would become a long-running musical family. Over the years, The Salty Suites have released four independent albums, toured extensively, and built a fiercely loyal following they proudly call friends. Their journey has included unforgettable performances everywhere from celebrated venues to unlikely stages, including their very first show together inside a high-security prison. At the heart of the group is Chelsea Williams, whose voice is as arresting as it is sincere. After selling more than 100,000 CDs busking on the streets, she was signed by Interscope Records, with her music featured in major Ford commercial campaigns aired during American Idol, The X Factor, and The Voice. Despite industry pressure to change direction, Williams chose to remain true to her roots in acoustic, country, and bluegrass music. Anchoring the band on upright bass is Chuck Hailes, a songwriter known for clarity, conviction, and moral courage. His lyrics do not shy away from big ideas. Lines such as, “Birthplace is Earth. Race is human. Politics is freedom. Religion is love,” reflect an artist who believes music can still stand for something, offering unity and perspective in a fractured world. Together, Williams and Hailes form the current core of The Salty Suites. For this performance, they will be joined by a special guest musician whose talent aligns seamlessly with the band’s adventurous spirit.
