The Best Ways AND Places to Celebrate in Laguna Beach

Is it just us, or does it feel like time is moving quicker than ever? As life flies by, it feels as though we are always celebrating something - birthdays, anniversaries, babies being born, you name it!

As always, our go-to spot to celebrate (with each other, or with a group), is Laguna Beach. This sunny beach town has it all - great restaurants, stunning views, pampering day spas, and more! Today we're going to round up our favorite places to relax, sip champagne and party with friends... Because no matter the occasion, chances are it's worth a party.

Start your morning with breakfast at BLK Dot coffee. Nothing says "treat yourself" like their Iced Sea Salt coffee and Avocado Toast. We suggest ordering it to go, and taking it to the beach. But if a long, relaxing brunch is more your style, some "birthday worthy" spots are Sapphire Laguna, where they serve some incredible Roasted Pineapple pancakes - or Reunion Kitchen, who has (arguably) the best Biscuits and Gravy in town! Then, pack up your sunscreen, towel, and a book (you can grab one at Laguna Beach Books), and head to the beach! We love Victoria Beach for their iconic "Pirate Tower" (that looks more like a castle), and their lively tide pools when the tide is low. It's a little bit of a hike to get to, but that typically means there's less crowds. Treasure Island is another favorite of ours, as its picture-perfect white sandy beaches are prime for laying out. Plus, it's close to Montage Laguna Beach in case you want to treat yourself to a glass of bubbly! And if you want to be close to the Laguna Beach hustle and bustle, or play a little volleyball, Main Beach is where the party's at!

Lunch at Zinc Cafe is a must! Have a "Zinclini" (orange and peach juice, raspberry puree, and sparkling wine) and their fresh Thai salad, and enjoy them on Zinc's lively outdoor patio. Just a quick walk down the road is the Sawdust Art and Craft Festival, where depending on the time of year, you can spend the afternoon shopping unique handmade goods from local vendors. (Their annual Winter Fantasy opens November 17th - weekends only!) Sawdust also offers a vast array of different art classes - from pottery, to glassblowing, jewelry making, screen printing, and more! We took a watercolor class not too long ago, and LOVED it! You can find out more about their classes and the schedule here. And if you're feeling more adventurous, go surfing or paddle boarding! La Vida Laguna offers daily tours and lessons, and their friendly team will have you feeling like a pro in no time. All you have to do is know how to swim, and they'll handle the rest. Make sure to keep an eye out - you might spot some dolphins or sea lions!

Catch the sunset at The Rooftop Lounge, where you can enjoy one of their famous Mojitos (happy hour is 3-5pm!) and their tasty Ahi Poke appetizer. Then jump on the free Laguna Beach Trolley (running every Friday-Sunday), and take it to Driftwood Kitchen for dinner. If it's just the two of you, we recommend requesting a table on their outdoor patio. And you must order the Parker House Rolls - they're life changing! End your night with dessert (get the Chocolate Praline Crunch!) and a nightcap (the Woodwalker is a favorite of ours!), at Broadway by Amar Santana. We enjoy grabbing a seat at the bar and watching their skilled mixologists at work. Let them know it's your birthday, and they might even do something special for you!

Nothing says "Happy Birthday" like a night at the iconic Surf & Sand Resort. You're so close to the ocean, you can hear the waves break from your room! Their attention to detail and luxurious accommodations make it the perfect option for a birthday celebration. Make sure you leave some time in your schedule for a dip in their stunning, oceanfront pool!

Cafe Heidelberg has been a favorite breakfast spot for Laguna Beach locals for over 20 years! We suggest ordering a few different menu options to share, plus one (or two) of their mouth-watering pastries. Next, head to the Spa at the Montage for their signature "Couple's Massage Escape". Then spend the rest of your morning getting lost in their 20,000 square foot spa, which hosts Eucalyptus steam rooms, whirlpools, saunas, fireplace lounges, and more. Does it get any more romantic than that?

Across the street from Montage Laguna Beach is La Sirena Grill, one of our favorite contemporary-Mexican restaurants. It's quick and casual and has the best chips and guacamole in town! After lunch, drive up to Laguna Canyon Winery, where you can taste some of their award-winning wines. Is beer more your style? Just down the road is Laguna Beach Beer Company, where you can sample some of their locally made specialty ales. Ruby Beach, Pageant of the Brewmaster, and Top of the World are three of our favorites - but you just might want to sample them all with a tasting flight. Then make your way down to Fisherman's Cove for an afternoon kayak session with La Vida Laguna. Whether you kayak tandem or separately, there's nothing more peaceful and invigorating than gliding together along the Laguna Beach coastline! Or, if you're down to get wet, go to Laguna Sea Sports and rent snorkel gear! Treasure Island Beach, Shaw's Cove, and Fisherman's Cove are three of the best spots to snorkel - and no matter the season, you're sure to see wildlife. Keep an eye out for Garibaldi!

When the sun is beginning to set, there are so many romantic spots in Laguna Beach. Our two favorites are Ruby Street Park and Crescent Bay Point Park. Ruby Street Park is magical - tucked between two houses with a meandering trail that leads to an overlook that has one bench. If you're lucky, you'll have it all to yourselves. Crescent Bay Point Park is a lesser known overlook that has more space, and incredible views. While both of these offer prime views, romantic ambiance, and little crowds, a stroll on the beach at sunset is often just as special. You can't go wrong chasing sunsets in Laguna Beach. Reserve a table at Ocean at Main, the newest restaurant in Laguna Beach. Started by the former head chef at Studio at Montage Laguna Beach, no detail goes untouched, and every dish is decadent and beautifully arranged. Opt for the Grilled Pacific Swordfish or the Oxtail Kale Risotto, and share the Warm Apple Crisp for dessert. We suggest requesting a table on their outdoor patio - it's quaint, and elegant, and candlelit. After dinner, take a stroll down Main Beach and window shop along the Pacific Coast Highway. End the evening with a nightcap and some live music at The Marine Room Tavern on Ocean Avenue. You can find their full live music schedule here.

Hotel Joaquin is intimate and romantic, and a perfect beachside getaway for just the two of you. It's the newest "petite resort" in Laguna Beach, and every inch of this 22 room property is modern and luxurious. It just might become your new anniversary tradition!

You can't beat the Breakfast Buffet (and the views) at Las Brisas. Treat yourself to create-your-own omelets, waffles, eggs benedict, and more. Hey, you're eating for two! ;) Then walk it all off with some shopping for the little one at Little Freebirds, Soul Project and Little Bohemian, where you're sure to find the cutest baby clothes and accessories.

Treat yourself (and the baby) to gelato at Gelato Paradiso, then hop on the free Laguna Beach Trolley, and head to Aquaterra Spa at Surf & Sand Resort. Spend the afternoon getting pampered with one of their luxurious treatments and enjoy their cozy relaxation areas. Soak in the peace and quiet before your little one comes! After your time at the spa, walk down to the beach and have a local photographer meet you there to take some maternity photos. The City of Laguna Beach can arrange for permits at some of the most picturesque spots along Laguna Beach's coastline. Once you're done with pictures, why not have a friendly sandcastle competition against each other? After all, sandcastles and parenting go hand in hand!

There's nothing like some good ol' American comfort food after an afternoon at the spa, and there's no place better than The Lumberyard. We suggest their house-made pasta or chicken pot pie, but be sure to save room for dessert! Their famous "Lumberyard Hog Heaven Pie" is what dreams are made of!If you're craving Mexican food, then the new South of Nick's in Laguna Beach is a must. Their chips and salsa is craveworthy, and their Pork Carnitas is one of our favorite dishes in the entire world. Whatever you do, do not step foot out of there without trying their "Warm Butter Cake". You (and the baby) will thank us later. ;) And if baby's craving pizza, as they often do, head to Neapolitan Pizzeria & Birreria, where you'll find excellent wood-fired pizza, fresh salads, and the best meatballs and chicken wings in town! Their Il Mercato and Pesto Bacon pizzas are two of our favorites - and don't forget to try their homemade tiramisu!

Cozy, charming, and picturesque, Casa Laguna Hotel & Spa is one of our favorite boutique hotels in Laguna Beach. One step onto their property and you'll instantly fall in love. Plus, their beds are the perfect combination of fluffy and firm - giving you (and baby!) an optimal night's sleep! Oh, and did we mention that Casa Laguna is adults only? Take advantage of it while you can!
