As part of its Women’s History Month celebration, the Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center presents a screening of Tell Me Everything, the acclaimed documentary chronicling the groundbreaking career of Barbara Walters.
For more than five decades, Walters reshaped broadcast journalism, becoming the first woman to co-anchor a network evening news program and redefining the art of the interview. From world leaders and cultural icons to controversial and elusive figures, her interviews did not just make headlines, they changed the public conversation.
Tell Me Everything traces Walters’ extraordinary rise, examining the barriers she broke, the criticism she faced, and the complicated personal costs of being first. The film offers an honest and nuanced portrait of a woman whose ambition, persistence, and curiosity helped open doors for generations of women in media.
The screening will be followed by a moderated discussion exploring women in journalism, power and access, and the evolving role of the media, then and now.
The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Adelson, a longtime journalist and former editor of the Laguna Beach Independent. Adelson spent more than four decades in print journalism, including writing for The New York Times and leading the Independent for nearly twenty years, where she became known for elevating investigative reporting, transparency, and accountability in local journalism.
Her experience and perspective make her a fitting guide for a conversation about Barbara Walters’ legacy and the role of women in shaping public discourse.
This event is part of a month-long Women’s History Month series at the Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center, featuring film, discussion, performance, and literature that honor women who challenged norms and reshaped culture.
Women’s History Month at the Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center is generously sponsored by Ann Quilter and Charlie Quilter for the second year in a row.
We are deeply grateful for their continued support of the arts and for making this important series possible.
