No Square Theatre Presents: FOOTLOOSE

No Square Theatre is pleased to bring the musical FOOTLOOSE to Laguna Beach. Performances will be August 5-14, and tickets are available now at www.nosquare.org. The stage adaptation, by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, is based on an original screenplay by Dean Pitchford. Music and lyrics are by Tom Snow and Dean Pitchford, with additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman. The FOOTLOOSE movie was released in 1984 and the stage production debuted in 1998.

FOOTLOOSE is a lively and energetic show with an upbeat message that shows the power of dance to promote joy, and even healing. A teenage boy, Ren McCormack, who moves from Chicago to a small town in Texas where dancing is prohibited. He quickly finds himself at odds with the town fathers, especially the Reverend Bomont. With the help of Bomont’s daughter Ariel, Ren seeks to convince the authorities to allow them to hold a senior prom—with dancing!

No Square’s production is directed by Ella Wyatt and choreographed by Sabrina Harper, with music direction by Joe Mulroy. The talented performers include: Luke Bruderer, Kristin Cortines, Bridget English, Ethan Ghere, Grace Gilchrist, Jonah Goldstein, Lila Goldstein, Elijah Golembiewski, Rob Harryman, Dane Holbrecht, Enna Larson, Kristen Matson, Abby Matossian, Charlie McClung, Claire McClung, Justin McCoy, Grace Nachreiner, Jay Rechter, Sophie Russ, Luka Salib, Olivia Schulist, Avi Spitzer, Claire Tigner, and Rachel Valdez.

*Aug. 11 performance Introduces Theatre on the Spectrum. Open to all, but specially adapted for attendees with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families and friends.

WHERE: No Square Theatre is in Historic Legion Hall, 384 Legion Street, two blocks south of the High School. The High School has ample free parking.
