Hortense Miller Garden hosts free retreat: Meditating in the Garden on September 14
A free three-hour mindfulness meditation retreat will be held at Hortense Miller Garden on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9:45 a.m.-1 p.m. It will be led by Lori Kahn who has more than 20 years of experience in study, practice and teaching Mindfulness Meditation. Although the workshop is free, donations are gratefully accepted.
The Hortense Miller Gardens is the perfect environment to practice Mindfulness Meditation, as the quiet beauty lends itself naturally to feeling calm and peaceful. The gardens offer more than a dozen hillside trails and 2.5 acres of hundreds of varieties of plants and trees.
Lori Kahn will lead Meditating in the Garden on September 14
Kahn is a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, through the Center for Greater Good at UC Berkeley and The Awareness Training Institute with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She is a Certified Integrative Coach through The Ford Institute for Integrative Coaching.
Kahn teaches Mindfulness Meditation to individuals, classes, corporations and other specialty groups, and has created and taught programs including the Foundations of Mindfulness Meditation, Mindfulness in Education, Mindful Parenting and Mindfulness at Work.
Kahn founded OM laguna beach in 2011, specializing in Meditation, Stress Relief and Coaching, and in 2019 expanded to become “OM yoga + meditation,” Laguna Beach’s premier studio combining yoga + meditation and other customized wellness services to individuals and groups which she sold at the end of 2022.
Kahn co-founded Awaken OM, an innovative meditation APP for “all people everywhere” – combining nature-themed films and guided meditation. Awaken OM can be downloaded for free on both Apple and Android as well as Amazon Fire and Roku TV.
Mindfulness Meditation can deepen our experience and appreciation of the environment, manage the chatter of inner dialogue that can cause distractions and stress, and develop a deeper connection with the natural sense of peace that exists both outside of our surroundings and within ourselves.
Mindfulness Meditation is developing awareness of breath and senses. Meditating with the senses includes smell, taste, sight, sound and body sensations.
Workshop attendees must register in advance to participate, so contact Diane Lannon at diane.lannon@gmail.com.
