A Featured Event of Laguna’s Citywide Juneteenth Jubilee

Saturday, June 21 | 5:30 – 8:00 PM
“Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” – Abraham Lincoln

Step into a forgotten cemetery in America’s heartland—and into the lives of those who refused to be forgotten.

Freedom Awakes is a gripping original stage production directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker and producer Pamela Peak, featuring her acclaimed On Impulse Acting Troupe. Set in an overgrown Midwestern graveyard, this unforgettable performance brings the voices of the past to life—spirits rising to tell stories of injustice, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of freedom.
Some tales are joyful, many are painful, but all are deeply human woven together by the unshakable truth that liberty must be defended, honored, and never forgotten. At its core is a haunting tribute to the words of Abraham Lincoln, whose call for justice still resonates today.

Presented as part of Laguna Beach’s Juneteenth citywide celebration, this event is hosted at LBCAC—one of Orange County’s most intimate and powerful storytelling venues, known for productions that provoke thought, stir emotion, and spark meaningful dialogue.

Freedom Awakes is not just a performance. It’s an act of remembrance, resistance, and reckoning.

Join us for a night of raw emotion, theatrical brilliance, and a community gathering in the name of truth and justice.
