Plan your escape now to one of the most beautiful, family-friendly destinations - Laguna Beach. This beach town is a favorite for locals in Southern California and for guests from all over the world who come for the brilliant light that shines on the waves, plus the action offered at the amazing beaches, tide pools, parks, and so many fun things for families to do.

Stay Here - Sunset Cove Villas

Sunset Cove Villas

As my eye caught the golden afternoon light streaming through the open windows with a wide panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, I thought, "I may never leave this place, ever! They may have to drag my body from this comfortable bed with an ocean view." Then I stepped into the master bathroom and saw the jacuzzi tub with another ocean view and I immediately squealed in delight. Sunset Cove Villas are situated right on the beach with an amazing view of - you guessed it - the sun setting over the Pacific. These luxury rentals offer 1, 2, and 3 bedroom suites with full kitchens and access to private and shared patios. Most have a full ocean view and are drop-dead gorgeous in their furnishings, decorations, premium appliances, and modern entertainment systems. A flight of stairs takes guests right to the sand which is in close walking distance to Main Beach, located in the heart of downtown Laguna Beach. With garage parking, full laundry access, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, and boogie boards available, families will love staying here.

Do This -

Family Vacation

There is hardly a chance of running out of things to do while in Laguna Beach. In fact, you may need to do what a family we recently met has done for 20+ years - come to Laguna Beach for a whole week each year - and they were coming from a different country! Playing at the beach is the most obvious activity, and with warm temps most of the year, it is delightful for swimming, boogie boarding, tide pooling, and stand up paddleboarding. Drop your kids off to experience Beach Camp Laguna, which offers education about the marine environment and ocean safety. Half and full day camps are available and include beach activities, lifeguard games, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, body surfing and more! Head south on PCH to the city of Dana Point. The protected harbor is the starting point for a day of whale watching with Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching. All year round whales are migrating up and down the coast of California and spotting these gentle giants is thrilling. The hills and canyons around Laguna Beach are lined with trails welcoming hikers to explore the coastal wilderness. Join a guided hike with La Vida Laguna and let them show you the fantastic views of the coastal ranges, the wide ocean, and the distant island of Catalina. The Laguna Playhouse is also a fantastic venue for introducing kids to the theatre. This historic stage is home to The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre which performs about three shows each year designed for young audiences, and features youth actors as well as professional ones. We enjoyed "The Boxcar Children" in November, and upcoming in 2017 will be "The Wizard of Oz" and "Hana's Suitcase."

Eat Here -

Driftwood Kitchen

Restaurants abound in Laguna Beach with a wide range of culinary specialities. Some of our favorites for dining with our kids include Johnny Rockets, Sergio's Empanadas, BJs Restaurant & Brewhouse, Orange Inn, Ruby's, and Big Fish Tavern. On our most recent trip, we took short walks to breakfast and dinner from Sunset Cove Villas and found delicious food and amazing views. I'm not sure what was better, the rich coffee, the savory omelet, or the incredible ocean views at Driftwood Kitchen. All were absolutely delightful. This premium location serves three meals a day with a wide variety of cocktails and brunch options. Make a reservation, or be surprised if the wait isn't too long. In a more casual and small setting with booths along one wall and seats at a bar, we noshed on tasty tapas and ramen at Gu Ramen. IPAs and beers on tap, as well as a good selection of wines complement the variety of appetizers and the great selection of toppings to choose from for your bowl of ramen. It's all delicious and kid-friendly!
