Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau Wins First Place for Best Press Kit in North America
(Laguna Beach, CA) -- The prestigious NATJA journalism awards are presented annually from the North American Travel Journalists Association. A nine-member panel of officers and trustees from the Garden State Journalists Association (formerly the Working Press Association of New Jersey) reviewed more than 500 entries in order to select the winners in several categories. All nine said their assignment was excruciating due to the quality of the entries.
In the Public Relations/CVBs/Publication Categories, Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau tied for first place with the Seattle Convention & Visitors Bureau for Best Overall Press Kit. The LBVCB Press Kit consists of a tri-fold, full-color folder complete with photo CD, Map, Visitors & Dining Guide and information on lodging, attractions, festivals and history to the top ten places to see in Laguna Beach. In addition, the Laguna Beach package includes a pen for journalists containing a 512-megabyte USB flash drive filled with news articles and City photographs. Articles, books, broadcast tapes, press releases, and press kits were submitted in 38 categories, including four designated for destination travel (newspaper articles about domestic destinations, newspaper articles about international destinations, magazine articles about domestic destinations, and magazine articles about international destinations) and 11 for Public Relations/CVBs/Publication Categories.
The 16th annual competition produced entries from virtually every top travel magazine, newspaper, internet site, and publisher. Airline magazines were well-represented, with United's Hemispheres one of four grand prize winners.
